Looking Back at Amanda Zirzow’s A Starry Night in May
Amanda Zirzow’s first solo exhibition at Arts for ACT Gallery brought together 23 original paintings in May 2021. Eighteen entered private collections, making the show a meaningful beginning for her solo exhibition practice.
Among the featured works was Burrowing Owls in the Starry Night, a 16 × 12 × 0.75-inch acrylic painting. Its wildlife subject and luminous sky reflected the connection between biological observation and imagination that continues through Amanda’s work.
The exhibition also included her first self-portrait and coincided with her 34th birthday. A portion of artwork sales supported Abuse Counseling and Treatment’s work with survivors and their children.
Zirzow Gallery extends its gratitude to curator Claudia Goode, the gallery’s artists and volunteers, and everyone who visited or collected a painting. Their support helped make A Starry Night in May a lasting milestone in Amanda’s artistic journey.
