Eternity: Amanda Zirzow’s Solo Exhibition of X-Ray Expressionism

Eternity brought together more than 20 original paintings by Amanda Zirzow at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center’s Capital Gallery from October 7–17, 2022.

The solo exhibition focused on Amanda’s X-Ray Expressionism style, combining skeletal forms, expressive color, and symbolic imagery to explore life, mortality, and emotion. Works pictured in the original announcement included Mother and Child, Vincent, and Despondent.

The collection included new paintings alongside pieces loaned by private collectors, offering visitors an opportunity to experience this body of work together in one setting.

Presented in conjunction with the center’s Dark Art exhibition, Eternity marked an important stage in Amanda’s artistic development. For Zirzow Gallery, the exhibition demonstrated the range of her practice, extending from colorful wildlife imagery into paintings that examine anatomy and the experiences beneath outward appearances.
