Announcing A Starry Night in May: Amanda Zirzow’s First Solo Exhibition

A Starry Night in May marked Amanda Zirzow’s first solo exhibition at Arts for ACT Gallery in downtown Fort Myers. The spring 2021 announcement introduced a collection pairing creatures of land and sea with night skies inspired by Vincent van Gogh.

The paintings grew from wildlife encounters, scuba diving, and Amanda’s renewed commitment to making art. Bright color, bold outlines, and textured brushwork translated these experiences into imagined environments.

Some works were presented in frames made from reclaimed wood from discarded crab and lobster traps, adding another connection to coastal life.

The announcement invited visitors to a May 7 opening reception and a month-long exhibition. For Zirzow Gallery, founded online in March 2020, the show represented an important opportunity to introduce Amanda’s work to a wider audience.

A separate retrospective shares the results and memories of the completed exhibition.
