Amanda Zirzow Creates a Starry Night Planter for Edison Mall

On May 1, 2021, Amanda Zirzow participated in The Canvas Project at Edison Mall, painting a large planter near the Center Court Fountain.

The live session brought the creative process into an everyday public setting. Shoppers could stop, watch the work develop, and speak with Amanda as the planter became a colorful installation.

A starry-night theme provided an opportunity to explore expressive brushwork, luminous color, and movement across a three-dimensional surface. The project carried elements of Amanda’s painting practice beyond the edges of a traditional canvas.

The event also fell on her birthday, giving the day personal significance.

For Zirzow Gallery, The Canvas Project offered an accessible way to share Amanda’s work with people who might not have planned to visit a gallery, creating an unexpected encounter with art during an ordinary day.
