The Crab and the Oyster

This painting is inspired by a quote from Leonardo da Vinci and the style of Vincent Van Gogh.

“The Crab and the Oyster” – Acrylic on Canvas, 11” x 14” x 0.75” – Origianl Sold – Prints available here.

Inspiration for my new painting come from exploring the beaches around Sanibel Island, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and timeless words of wisdom from Leonardo da Vinci. “Oysters open completely when the moon is full; and when the crab sees one it throws a piece of stone or seaweed into it and the oyster cannot close again so that it serves the crab for meat. Such is the fate of him who opens his mouth too much and thereby puts himself at the mercy of the listener.”
