The Rooster and the Jewel Limited Edition Giclée Print from my series inspired by Aesop’s fables.
The Rooster and the Jewel
This artwork is from my series inspired by Aesop’s fables. Fables are timeless literary devices because of their ability to deliver moral messages in a simple way that can be understood and enjoyed by readers of all ages. In fact, fables are one of the oldest and most lasting methods of both written and oral storytelling.
A rooster was busily scratching and scraping about to find something to eat for himself and his family, when he happened to turn up a precious jewel that had been lost by its owner.
“Aha!” said the rooster. “No doubt you are very costly and he who lost you would give a great deal to find you. But as for me, I would choose a single grain of barleycorn before all the jewels in the world.”
The moral of the story is that precious things are without value to those who cannot prize them.
