Acrylic on Canvas 12 x 16

Set against a vividly layered Florida sky, this piece captures a quiet yet expressive moment among a family of burrowing owls—one of Southwest Florida’s most beloved and iconic species. Perched along the shoreline near Bimini Basin, the owls are rendered with luminous color and intricate detail, their personalities emerging through subtle posture and gaze. A small, familiar landmark—the Bernece Braden Park sign—anchors the scene in Cape Coral, while the distant skyline and water reflect the intersection of wildlife and a rapidly changing coastal environment.

The sky, composed of sweeping bands of saturated color, evokes both movement and atmosphere, transforming a familiar sunset into something almost dreamlike. This layering of color and rhythm mirrors the energy of the landscape itself—alive, shifting, and deeply connected to the creatures that inhabit it.

This work was exhibited at BIG ARTS in Sanibel as part of a juried exhibition, and was also selected as an illustration in the artist’s children’s book, further extending its narrative beyond the canvas. Together, these distinctions reflect both its artistic strength and its ability to connect with a wide audience.

At once playful and grounded, this piece invites the viewer to pause and observe—offering a glimpse into a world that feels both intimate and expansive, where local wildlife becomes the center of a vibrant, living story.
