For the 2021 Arts for ACT Gala, Amanda Zirzow transformed a mannequin into Girl Before a Mirror, a contemporary response to Pablo Picasso’s well-known composition.

The figure was presented alongside a custom-painted mirror and Picasso’s Pattern, a 36 × 24 × 1.5-inch acrylic painting. Together, the works explored reflection and identity across different surfaces and forms.

The gala moved from its planned in-person setting to a virtual format, and Girl Before a Mirror was acquired for a private collection. Auction proceeds supported Abuse Counseling and Treatment’s services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

The project gave Amanda an opportunity to work beyond a traditional canvas while contributing to a community cause. Zirzow Gallery values this connection between artistic experimentation and support for the organizations serving Southwest Florida.
