A series of one-way valves in their blood vessels
force blood toward the head!

Their lung capacity is 14 gallons (55 liters) of air – a human can only hold 1.5 gallons (6 liters) of air.
This lets them put plenty of oxygen into their blood.

Big Hearts

Giraffes have big hearts, literally. A giraffe’s heart can weigh up to 24 pounds (11 kilograms) and it can pump 15 gallons (60 liters) of blood around its body every minute. How can they manage to get blood all the way up those long necks (which can be up to 6 feet long) to their brains?
