A Starry Night in May

My new paintings center around creatures from the land and sea in a serene setting under the starry night.

Like Vincent Van Gogh, I put my heart and soul into my work. I find beauty in nature and the sight of stars makes me dream. Formally trained as a biologist, my study of animals and nature is extensive. For the past 15 years, I have put my knowledge to work in the laboratory and teaching biology.

My first love and passion in life has always been self-expression through art. There are so many thoughts and images that fill my mind and beg to be brought to life on canvas. I studied art for four years at George C. Marshall High School, which culminated in a final art show, in which I received the highest honors and earned my international baccalaureate degree.

Since graduating college, the busy schedule of working and raising my family, only allowed a small amount of time for art. But I always turned to art whenever possible, exploring new subjects, styles, and mediums. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I realized life is too short not to pursue my dreams and transitioned into my new role as a professional artist.

My new paintings center around creatures from the land and sea in a serene setting under the starry night. My recent studies in the works of Vincent Van Gogh have inspired me to get more in touch with my right-brain. And I will reveal my first-ever self-portrait – at the event opening.

I want to thank the Arts for ACT Curator, Claudia Goode for hosting my first solo exhibit during the month of May in which I am celebrating my 34th birthday. I am grateful for the Abuse Counseling and Treatment (ACT) Centers which provides support services for victims of domestic violence and their children. A portion of all art sale proceeds go to support their mission.

Please join me at the opening reception Friday, May 7 from 6-9PM at 2265 First St, Fort Myers, FL 33901 where my work will be featured in the Main Gallery.
